It’s a new year; why not freshen up your home while increasing its value with these simple do it yourself projects.

  1. Give your kitchen an easy facelift: By redoing the backsplash in your kitchen you can change the entire look and feel of the entire room. Replace the backsplash with new tiles that update the look and keep it hip and fresh. Some great ideas are white or marble “brick” style tiles to freshen and modernize the room. If you want a dramatic change, try metallic tile in silver or gold. Another great idea is natural traditional looks with exposed brick or wood looking tile. Graphics are also fun and very trendy!
  2. Give your bedrooms a change with painted closet doors: If you bedroom needs a change and you do not want to do a huge renovation, try painting the closet doors with a simple boarder or fresh pattern. Give them depth with boarders or design around the edges. Another great way to update a bedroom is to change the closet doors to frosted glass or plexi-glass.
  3. Change the feeling of your home with new window dressings: An easy way to change the entire feel of your home is to update your window dressings with shades or curtains. Take out heavy dark curtains for light airy ones to make a room softer and fresh feeling. If you do not like using curtains, simply pull them to the side with a pretty curtain hook for decoration. You can use curtains to cover cluttered storage or divide rooms from messy areas.
  4. Give your bathroom a new vibe with a simple mirror fix: Simply add a frame to your mirror to make a more warm and inviting bathroom. The frame gives warmth to a tired plain mirror and with thousands of frames to choose from you can easily find one to compliment your bathroom décor or make it special and stand out.
